Quick answer: D’CENT App Wallet users should update the app before making transactions, run the wallet's current “Check if action is needed” process, and follow the result shown inside the official app. D’CENT's updated guidance says users who are told to move assets should transfer them to a secure wallet created with a new recovery phrase, rather than reusing a phrase that may have been exposed.

What happened to the D’CENT App Wallet?

D’CENT disclosed abnormal asset transfers involving its software App Wallet and opened an urgent investigation. The company has distinguished the software App Wallet from hardware-only use: connecting a hardware wallet to the app does not itself place the hardware recovery phrase on the phone.

The important question is whether a recovery phrase was ever entered into the App Wallet or whether the App Wallet was used under conditions D’CENT now identifies as requiring action.

Who should check whether action is required?

D’CENT says the issue relates to App Wallet use on versions earlier than v8.1.0. Its published criteria include users who first installed the app before November 5, 2025 and signed transactions with the App Wallet in an affected older version.

Users who entered or restored a hardware-wallet recovery phrase inside the App Wallet should also treat that phrase as having existed in a software environment and follow D’CENT's current check.

What should you do right now?

  1. Update D’CENT from the official app store source.
  2. Open the official app and run the security/action check.
  3. Do not make transactions through an outdated App Wallet before checking.
  4. If instructed to move assets, create a secure destination wallet with a fresh recovery phrase.
  5. Transfer carefully, verifying the destination and network for each asset.
  6. Do not reuse the old recovery phrase for the new wallet.

Why does a fresh recovery phrase matter?

A recovery phrase controls the private keys derived from it. Moving assets to another wallet interface while reusing the same potentially exposed phrase does not remove the underlying key risk. A genuinely fresh wallet creates new keys.

What if you used only a D’CENT hardware wallet?

D’CENT's guidance says hardware mode is different because keys are generated on the hardware device and the app can act as a display. However, if you ever typed that hardware recovery phrase into the App Wallet, the security boundary changed. Follow the App Wallet guidance in that case.

Check unauthorized transactions on-chain

If you see an unexpected transfer, record the transaction hash, destination address, asset and timestamp. Move any remaining assets according to the official security guidance before spending time with third-party recovery claims.

Scam warning

D’CENT warns that it will never ask for your recovery phrase, wallet key or PIN. Treat DMs, Telegram accounts, Discord messages and “reimbursement” links as untrusted. Do not send funds to a special recovery address supplied by a stranger.

FAQ

Should every D’CENT user move funds?

No. Use D’CENT's latest criteria and in-app check to determine whether action applies to your wallet.

Are hardware wallets automatically compromised?

D’CENT says hardware-only use is distinct. The key concern is whether the recovery phrase was ever entered into the software App Wallet.

Can I reuse my old seed in a new wallet?

If D’CENT instructs you to migrate because of potential exposure, using a fresh recovery phrase is the safer remediation because it creates new keys.

Can D’CENT recover stolen crypto?

D’CENT's help center says it is non-custodial and cannot recover assets by accessing private user secrets. Preserve evidence and report losses to the appropriate authorities.
